Born and raised in Italy, Michele Ruberl has 20+ years of experience on 4 continents under his belt, that he started by jumping on his first Internet startup in the UK at age 22. He ramped up the first 3G mobile portal in the world at H3G, then went on a career with major system integrators, designing and developing distributed software architectures for enterprise customers including Ericsson, Deutsche Bank, Ducati, Pirelli. In 2007 he moved back to entrepreneurship and to China, where he founded and successfully exited 2 web and mobile companies over a period of 7 years.
Michele focuses on travel tech since 2014, when he moved to Mexico and California as the CTO at Sandos, a Spanish multinational hotel chain. Over a period of 5 years he was instrumental in doubling direct revenue through reinvention of all their online properties and distribution channels, while in charge of group-wide software architecture. He also got in touch with the Bay Area blockchain scene, which led to the spinoff of a project to create decentralized travel loyalty programs world-wide.
Michele now serves at Alpitour World, one of the leading European travel conglomerates, including tour operators, an airline, hotel chains, a bed bank and a travel agencies network, grossing 2B EUR in 2019. At Alpitour, he oversees the architecture for inNova, the Group’s multi-year digital transformation program. He also leads the teams delivering integration to third party sourcing and distribution partners, and contributes to several innovation initiatives around blockchain.
