ICT is evolving even faster than anticipated. Nowadays, every person, object, element of the space where we move and live can be instrumented and enriched using ICT. There is no single domain or sector of our society that is not affected (at least potentially) by this (r)evolution.

There are several enabling factors:
• Miniaturization
• Ubiquitous Connectivity
• Software
• New materials & Sensors
• Decreasing Cost and (virtually) Unconstrained Scalability Italy can hugely benefit from IoE in many sectors such as Manufacturing, Culture, Healthcare, Tourism, Fashion, Food … Are we exploiting this opportunity? So far only partially. We are too slow, too focus on existing markets, too constrained by short term results. We need to “pick up the gauntlet”, and promote a profound and visionary discontinuity in every sector of our society.
