CTO e Innovation Director, Lavazza

Fabio is 53 years old, he owns a University Master Degree in Physics and a PhD in Thermodynamics. He spent few years in the Research field, to move then through a 20 years-long career in the fields of engineering and technology, with major Corporates like Whirlpool, Electrolux and Carrier HVAC, where he covered leading positions in Quality, R&D, Product Development and Operations, leading global teams and bringing significant innovation to product and services. Since 3 years, Fabio took over a new challenge at Lavazza, an Italy based and global leader coffee roaster, where he leads the R&D and Innovation team, supporting the international development of the Company, the innovation pattern and the product portfolio expansion. He works across the whole process of coffee-blends creation and brewing systems development, in selecting new coffee origins, driving the Product Development of new products and blends, in defining Technology Roadmaps, and in creating consumer-driven innovation in coffee-systems and in the capsules sectors. For instance, in 2015 Lavazza has successfully accomplished a project to install an espresso-machine in the ISS International Space Station, overcoming technical challenges and stringent NASA requirements for space-designed systems. Lavazza has also launched an innovative compostable capsule, able to work with the demanding working conditions of the espresso systems, answering a strong market need for sustainable products, and opening to new cutting edge applications in the field of Espresso Based Beverages.
